"Voices of Resilience"

Cornell University / Ithaca, NY

We are thrilled to announce the first collaboration between UCVP and Cornell University!

On May 2nd, 2026, the Ukrainian Classical Voice Project (UCVP) will partner with the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies and the Institute for European Studies to present “Voices of Resilience,” a lecture–recital event where music serves as both a performance and a conversation.

This unique program will feature 8 operatic performances interwoven with 5–10 embedded talks, exploring how music can act as a force for peace, cultural memory, and understanding across borders. Audiences will experience the work of underrepresented Ukrainian composers, gaining insight into the rich tapestry of culture, poetics, and narrative that shapes both classical opera and the human stories behind it.

A meeting of ideas and expertise:

  • The Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies champions global engagement and interdisciplinary research, bringing international perspectives into dialogue with pressing contemporary issues.

  • The Institute for European Studies offers deep expertise in European culture, politics, and history, fostering understanding of how arts and scholarship intersect with society.

  • UCVP preserves and elevates Ukrainian classical voices, turning each performance into a bridge between heritage, scholarship, and social impact.

About the Venue:
The event will be held at Alice Statler Auditorium, a historic Cornell performance space renowned for its exceptional acoustics and intimate setting, allowing every note and every word to resonate with clarity and emotion. It’s a space where music and conversation meet, perfectly reflecting the spirit of this lecture–recital.

This is more than an evening of music — it’s an exploration of resilience, dialogue, and the power of the human voice.
