"From the Heart of Ukraine"

October 10, 2025
The Sembrich (Marcella Sembrich Memorial Association)
Bolton Landing, New York

The Ukrainian Classical Voice Project proudly presented From the Heart of Ukraine, a collaborative outreach recital at The Sembrich, the historic teaching studio of internationally celebrated Polish soprano Marcella Sembrich overlooking Lake George in Bolton Landing, New York. Now preserved as a museum and cultural center, The Sembrich continues the celebrated singer’s legacy through performances, educational programs, and the preservation of vocal and musical history.

Presented in partnership with The Sembrich, From the Heart of Ukraine introduced audiences to the richness and diversity of Ukrainian classical vocal music through a program of art songs and operatic arias performed by artists from across New York’s Capital Region. The recital reflected UCVP’s commitment to bringing historically underrepresented Ukrainian repertoire to new audiences while illuminating a musical tradition that remains insufficiently represented on American concert and operatic stages.

The program featured works by Mykola Lysenko, Kyrylo Stetsenko, Yakiv Stepovyj, Viktor Kosenko, Anatoly Kos-Anatolsky, Ihor Shamo, Oleksandr Bilash, Ihor Sonevytskyj, Lesya Dychko, and Myroslav Skoryk, tracing the breadth of Ukraine’s vocal heritage across generations and styles. In the intimate and historically significant setting of The Sembrich, the recital created a meaningful dialogue between musical heritage, cultural preservation, and the living tradition of classical song.
